Miriam’s Leprosy Apr 2025
After speaking against Moses, Miriam is struck with leprosy and placed outside the camp for seven days before she can return. The book uses progressively longer pages, each extending 6 cm beyond the previous one, creating a layered structure that reveals part of the pages underneath. Miriam appears on the exposed strip of every page, and her figure becomes paler as the narrative advances, giving the sequence a quiet, animated quality.
Each spread contains the same four characters, but the increasing page lengths widen the distance between Miriam and the others, reflecting her temporary separation from the community. On the final spread, after her seven days outside the camp, she appears alongside the other figures on the page where the text is placed, marking her return and the resolution of the story.
