Daniel in the Lions’ Den Apr 2025
An illustrated adaptation of Daniel in the Lions’ Den, created in the twisted-fold format as part of the Miriam’s Leprosy Project exploring Biblical stories through experimental formats. The story follows Daniel, who is thrown into a den of lions after refusing to worship the king. Instead of being harmed, he is protected, and the men who plotted against him ultimately face the fate intended for him.The twisted fold was used to hide and reveal specific moments in the narrative. When the format is closed, key scenes remain concealed, creating a visual “delay” similar to the tension in the story itself. Unfolding the structure gradually exposes the shift — from Daniel’s danger to the unexpected outcome. The format becomes part of the storytelling, using its hidden surfaces and layered openings to control pace, surprise, and point of view.
